Usually reading while underway is a sure fire way for most people to start feeling a little green. Even I start feeling a bit uneasy if I'm down below trying to read charts. But by day four, Chloe was a hardened sailor engrossed in a book even during some good rolling seas.
She inhaled this book in just two days.
It took me the whole two weeks to finish the book I brought about Captain Cook. A great read especially while at sea. His expeditions sprung to life reading it while sailing. Cook's fearless seamanship fascinated me as I contrasted the reassurance offered by our charts and the technology of our electronic navigation instruments against his sailing into the unknown without maps or knowledge of the dangerous reefs that lurked below. I was reluctant to finish the book because I knew how his story ended.
Mark joined our reading group on lazy afternoons reading a few of the books he found on the boat...about boats and sailing.
While Connor and Sev read texts from friends back home any time they could find internet--thus completing our on board Boat Book Club. Reading is reading right?
